Heaven’s Suitcase

A little boy was asked one day,
(A boy of only seven)
“What would you take with you
if God called you up to Heaven?”

He thought for but a moment,
and this was his reply,
“I think I’d take my Mom & Dad,
and here’s the reason why.

My mom is always working
doing things she needs to do.
and daddy can’t play baseball
‘cause he’s always busy too.

If we were up in Heaven
how happy I would be.
They wouldn’t be so busy
and could spend more time with me.”

His parents would have much regret
and live their lives in sorrow
if God, who gave this child to them,
took him away tomorrow.

What could be more important
to ourselves, and God above,
than time spent with our children
building bonds of lasting love
