Broken Chain

We little knew the day that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you
But  you didn’t go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you
You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one
the chain will link again.

Until We Meet Again

With heavy hearts and tear filled eyes,
family and friends bid you goodbye.
Gathered this day united in sorrow,
yet with faith of a  brighter tomorrow.

You’re loved by all who’ve gathered here
and though you’ve gone we feel you near.
You touched our lives in numerous ways.
We  treasure all our yesterdays

Sharing our many memories of you
is something that we love to do.
We laugh, we cry, with joy and pain.
Goodbye, until we meet again.

Family Tree

There’s love within our family tree
and happiness abound.
It’s roots are deeply planted
In rich and fertile ground.

We enjoy the rays of sunlight,
And endure the winds and rain,
and when a leaf falls from our tree,
together we share the pain.

God gave us earthly families
and never did intend,
that bonds of love built on earth,
upon our death would end.

For when our life is over
and from earth our souls will flee ,
one by one, leaf by leaf
He’ll rejoin our family tree.

Goodbye family and friends.
My soul has taken flight.
I’m entering the spirit world
and, oh what a beautiful sight.

Joy and love surround me.
Such peace I’ve never known.
I have the strongest feeling
that I’ve returned back home.

Should you be feeling sorrow,
don’t weep too long for me.
From earthly trials and suffering
I am finally free.

Goodbye family and friends.
But only for a while.
Live out your lives in happiness,
and when you think of me…

The Sunset

How lovely is a sunset
at the ending of a day.
Beauty from the falling sun
can take one’s breath away.

The sunset at the end of life,
when this earthly body dies,
prepares us for another day
and a beautiful sunrise

It’s the time we leave this earth
and rise to a glorious dawn.
Where suffering, and earthly cares
will suddenly be gone.

Loved ones who are left behind,
will grieve because of love,
while those departed rise with joy
into the arms of God above

Teardrops are falling.  We’re saddened this day
A sweet little baby has just passed away.
For such a short time, we were blessed with the love
of our sweet little angel from heaven above.

Our family is grieving .We weep, and we pray,
In our hearts we know why you couldn’t stay.
A spirit so special, so perfect, and pure,
should not have the trials of this life to endure.

Although our grief is so hard to bear,
we know you are happy in Heaven somewhere.
You have overcome death. You’re spirit lives on.
You’re a part of us still even though you have gone.

Know that we love you our dear little one.
We’ll join you in time when our life here is done
Save us a place where we’ll be close to you,
and  in joy we’ll embrace, as our love we renew.

In my 38 years as a funeral director, I have often seen myself as working near that portal between this life and the next, this world and the next. I have seen that the purpose of my work is to be of assistance to those left on this side. Ron’s simple, unpretentious poetry presents thoughts and feelings from both sides. His words come from experience and faith and give a richer meaning to the expression “circle of life.” They impart both comfort and hope. I know that many grieving people will benefit from opening their hearts to his message.
