Happily Ever After
by Ron Tranmer ©
They were as two sailing ships
adrift on a sea of blue.
Looking for a lasting love…
A love forever true.
On one ship was a princess,
with beauty beyond compare.
Lost and looking for her love.
Lonely, and in despair.
The little ship faced many storms
and struggled to endure
She wondered, “Will I find my prince,
before crashing to the shore”?
Her ship was without rudder
and tossed her to and fro.
Her compass, made of hopes and dreams,
was pointing where to go.
On the other ship, a handsome prince,
alone in the sea of life.
Had nearly lost all hope to find
a princess… and a wife.
He had sailed on many seas
looking near and far.
It seemed that he had sailed the world,
wishing upon each star.
Then one day, the sea was calm
and the loneliness set in.
When yonder something could be heard
putting goose bumps on his skin.
The sweetest voice he ever heard
across the ocean blue,
singing, “Where are you my sweet love”?,
in a voice so pure and true.
He thought he saw another ship
as far as eyes could see.
“Could that be my princess,
singing out to me”?
He led his ship across the waves
as fast as he could go.
That sweet voice had pierced his heart.
He just had to know…
She saw him in the distance,
and said, “Oh, could it be,
that yonder comes my shining prince
in route to rescue me?”
In all of her excitement
princess stood up in her boat,
and fell into the ocean
where she tried to stay afloat.
As she struggled in the water
she soon began to sink,
but her prince jumped in and saved her
quicker than a blink.
As he pulled her safely to the ship
out of the cold deep sea ,
she held him tightly in her arms
and said, “you’ve rescued me”.
Today the prince and princess begin
their lives of love and laughter.
So it’s time to say, “The end”…
and “They lived happily ever after”
